MURRYA KOENIGII

Murraya Koenigii is commonly known as ”Curry Leaf tree” and is used as a common spice and condiment in India. The leaves of this tree contains various anti-oxidants and is believed to have anti-cancer properties as well as having the ability to aid in digestion, balancing cholesterol, protecting the liver, and to provide protection from microbes. The leaves are found to be a rich source of carbohydrates, energy, fiber, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, copper, and minerals, flavonoids, amino acids, and plant sterols.

Curry leaves are used in Ayurvedic Medicine in relieving pain from kidney stones, cleansing the urinary tract and preventing infection, as a tonic to treat dysentery and diarrhea, externally for skin eruptions and minor skin infections, prevention of cataracts, treatment of diabetes by reducing oxidative stress on pancreatic cells, aiding in keeping the natural coloring of the hair adding to the anti-aging benefit, aiding in purifying the blood and liver and facilitating weight loss naturally through detoxification, and for the treatment of poisonous stings and bites. Murraya Koenigii is a perfect complimentary addition to Immunothrive as a nutrient dense botanical and its potent anti-inflammatory effects in modulating the immune response.

SPIRULINA

Spirulina is a one celled blue-green algae grown in fresh water. Its historical use as a food source dates back centuries to the Aztecs and Mesoamericans. The name “spirulina” comes from its shape in the form of a spiral or helix strands when observed under the microscope. Spirulina is considered a biologically complete protein meaning it contains all eight essential amino acids in the correct balance needed by the body. The protein concentration ranges between 65-71% which is considered one of the most protein dense botanicals provided by nature. The protein in spirulina is much easier digested than protein from meats and soy products. Not only is it a complete source of protein, it is rich in vitamins, minerals, and phycobiliproteins, and fatty acids that aid in all aspects of cellular health. The pigments found in spirulina are bio-chemically important to life. Pigments are required in synthesizing enzymes for balancing metabolism.

Metabolism is perhaps one of the most important functions in the body that contribute to a sense of well-being and optimal health. If one of the metabolic pathways is slowed due to a nutrient or enzymatic deficiency then it will manifest as fatigue, oxidative stress, illness, or disease. Spirulina has a long list of super packed nutrients and health benefits, but we chose spirulina to compliment our formula in Immunothrive for its regulatory effects on metabolism from the support it receives from the enzyme production from the pigments and enzymes added benefit in modulating the immune response.

TURMERIC

Turmeric is widely used as a food condiment especially in Southeast Asia and commonly referred to as the “Queen of Spices.” Curcumin is the ingredient that has earned the reputation for turmeric of being a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. It is used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for alleviating symptoms of arthritis pain, reducing allergies, inhibiting tumor growth and cancer cells, to speed up wound healing, slow the progression of Alzheimer’s, a natural detoxifier of the blood and liver, a disinfectant, aiding in fat metabolism and weight management due to the stimulation of bile production, depression, aids in skin conditions such as psoriasis, a complimentary supplement for patients undergoing chemotherapy, as an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, and is used in Chinese medicine for depression. Besides Curcumin, turmeric is full of other nutrients such as protein, dietary fiber, niacin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, sodium, potassium, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc. Turmeric also contains a substance called lipopolysaccaride, a potent stimulant of the immune system in animals. Turmeric has an impressive safety record and can benefit health in everyone, however the only caution is that it should not be consumed by people with gallstones or bile obstruction.

PINE BARK

Pine Bark extract is one of the most potent anti-oxidants and has been found to prolong the lifespan of vitamin C in the body, increasing its beneficial effects. Pine bark extract contains a substance called procyanidolic oligomers (PCOs) which act to stimulate the immune system, decrease the risk of atherosclerosis, prevent certain types of cancers, and has antimicrobial and antiviral properties. The flavonoids in pine bark extract stimulate nitric oxide production which relaxes the blood vessels and improves microcirculation. This improved circulation brings oxygen and nutrients to the cells and is useful in varicose veins, younger looking skin, hemorrhoids, and edema. Nitric Oxide is also been shown to destroy bacteria, cancer cells, and improve relaying signals in the brain. It is also used in ADHD, Alzheimer’s, and cardiovascular disease by alternative medicine practitioners.

It is safely used in adults and children, but is not recommended in pregnant and nursing mothers, and people taking blood thinners must monitor their clotting times more closely. Pine Bark Extract is an excellent addition to the Immunthrive formula as it works well with the other ingredients and provides a mechanism for this power packed formula to reach each individual cell for maximum benefit.
